Welcome to Lot Mass 2023, where we keep you tight and hold you steady as the weekend party train approaches its last stop. After a rowdy post-pandemic reboot last year, Hot Mass is ready to work the Tangent lot into a fine paste once again as part of the Return to the Source Weekender. 

Kicking off in the sunshine right after No Way Back, get ready for another Monday shitshow with a dialed-up roster of Hot Mass DJ family from near and far:

Succubass
Hailing from Seattle, Succubass is a DJ who we’ve been falling in love with over and over. She’s a master of heady, wobbling rhythms and funky basslines at any tempo. We’ll be tapping her for the kickoff set, so expect a precision build of a set that traverses all territory.

AK
Detroit’s AK is someone we’ve had our eyes on for a bit. A hot tip sent us to a few mixes from this mysterious partymaker in 2021 (thanks Jules!), and we’ve been listening ever since. Expect intense and freewheeling energy, skipping flawlessly between genres, pushing the BPMs higher, and doing it all with that unmistakable Detroit class that draws us home to the mothership. This is the new wave of Detroit, you’re about to fall in love.

“Legends” doesn’t do justice to this duo. To us, they perfectly encapsulate the sound of NYC. Will Automagic and Nita Aviance have been nurturing dancefloors for decades at this point, and their parties are emblematic of what true community can look like. As DJs, they span all eras of dance music, wrapping everything up with their own unique attitude. Equally as .comfortable with a short power set as they are stretching into a marathon Panorama Bar moment, there’s no doubt they’ll draw out our collective remaining Monday energy reserves for this one.

Jarrett Tebbets
Our in-house disco connoisseur at Hot Mass, Jarrett is founder of Cold Cuts, the party responsible for foodtracking the soundtrack with a multitude of pork & pasta dishes over the years (yes, he serves food to everyone). Cold Cuts fills a crucial role in our residents lineup, covering the soulful, classic disco and house territory with aplomb. Jarrett is also an incredibly talented DJ, known for creating chaos on any dancefloor he takes control of – pulling it off with the perfect mix of obscure cuts and perfectly-timed anthems. It’s all love here, and he’s the perfect closer to Lot Mass 2023.

Return to the Source 2023 is an organic evolution of the original concept, with careful attention to detail put in at every level. We’ve used this time to improve ourselves and our infrastructure, to mindfully choose what it is we want to do and share with our community. Our weekend at the Tangent includes 4 parties for the price of one weekend wristband, with an outdoor area containing a harm reduction zone, food truck, and a greater outdoor sound system. Once the music starts at No Way Back on Sunday night, it won't end until Tuesday morning — 32 hours of continuous music. A weekend wristband will allow you to experience all this with no interruptions.
