Israel Vines
Israel Vines is from literally everywhere and has been DJing since the early 90s. Having spent his formative rave years in Detroit and Chicago (where he worked at the legendary Gramaphone Records), he now lives and works in Los Angeles. He first made waves on the production front with his label Borrowed Language, doing a number of split EPs and collaborations with Jeff Pietro, where the two created a strange combination of thunderous Birmingham Techno and modern Bass Music. Vines has also released on Cult Figures and Semantica, while providing remixes for Erika, Makaton, Attentat, and Stave. Since closing down Borrowed Langauge, Vines has found a permanent home on the Detroit imprint, Eye Teeth, a sublabel of the well established Interdimensional Transmissions label, where he has released the critically acclaimed WWKD and Gatekeepers EPs. Regularly touring the US for the last several years, 2017 saw Vines' first overseas bookings at Moog Club in Barcelona and Berlin's iconic Berghain. In addition to continuing to evolve his expansive DJ sets and solo productions, he also collaborates with Chicago artist Kit Geary as KGIV, a project which has released material on both Eye Teeth and Horizontal Ground. Vines' highly anticipated debut LP will see release on Eye Teeth in 2019.
