s15e02: Lauryn Lesley
We first met Lauryn Lesley when we produced Midwest Freaks 2 in Minneapolis with Intellephunk and Remain in Night in March of 2025. After getting to know her, and on the strength of her set there, we invited her to compose a mix for the IT podcast series. Lauryn Lesley is a resident for Intellephunk, who are behind The Great Beyond and part of the forthcoming Midwest Freaks 3 at Tangent on March 7th. In addition to DJing, Lauryn is an activist in Minneapolis, along with many members of our community there, actively resisting the occupation.
In her own words:
“This mix was recorded with an awareness of placement—where we are, and how we move through the human condition. With 2025 marking the year of the snake, the tension and weight of personal and collective transformation were present throughout.
Techno has been there for me during key chapters of my life, and this set is offered with the hope that listeners feel a sense of connection and movement through change, relief from grief, and the love I have for Detroit’s musical influence.
Having spent my formative years in concert halls at big band jazz performances, those early experiences shaped how I listen to, organize, and play music, and continue to inform the way I approach techno today.” – Lauryn Lesley
