Return to the Source – Day 3
For the final night of Return to the Source, Interdimensional Transmissions and The Bunker once again come together at Tangent Gallery for a full-building, multi-room collaboration. Celebrating our 10th year of this party since first joining forces in 2016, this Monday night has become a space for deeper exploration and carefully considered pairings, closing out the weekend with intention rather than exhaustion.
As always, the night is built around shared sets and long-form journeys, with artists meeting in the middle to explore common ground, tension, and trust.
Dance Room
Years ago, we named The Dance Room after Mike Huckaby’s infamous greeting whenever he picked up the phone at Record Time, and the name will stay in honor of our fallen hero and brother. The Dance Room is dedicated to forward momentum and physical intensity, pairing artists whose practices overlap in approach even when their sounds diverge.
Opening the night, Lauren Flax and Scotia bring together decades of dancefloor experience through a shared devotion to acid, channeling the raw, physical energy of the sound while pushing it into deeper, more elastic territory. At the core of the night, Octo Octa and Faited of T4T LUV NRG come together to step outside their usual context to explore drum & bass, combining emotional openness with high-velocity rhythms and a deep respect for the genre’s roots. Surgeon and Erika close the room with a rare and powerful collaboration. Both artists are known for uncompromising visions and a willingness to push beyond genre constraints, making this a meeting rooted in trust, risk, and deep listening.
Going In Room
The Going In Room focuses on inward motion, extended time, and deeply expanded states. This space is reserved for artists whose work invites reflection and immersion, and is intended as a place to relax and integrate a heavy weekend as we slowly land the ship that is Return to the Source.
Going In founder Bryan Kasenic opens the room with a slow-building journey designed to set the tone for the night. Carrier follows with a live performance rooted in texture, resonance, and subtle transformation. Jo Johnson and Chloe Harris close the room together, blending their shared interest in healing frequencies, narrative flow, and emotional depth into a set that prioritizes presence over propulsion.
Garden Stage
The Garden Stage opens at 10PM immediately following Lot Mass, offering an outdoor space for connection, release, and collaboration under the night sky.
1morning and Max Watts explore hypnotic rhythms and psychedelic movement, setting an expansive tone early in the night. Nita Aviance of The Carry Nation and Juliana Huxtable bring together raw energy, rhythm, and voice, drawing from NYC’s most influential contemporary cultural movements and club history while pushing toward the confrontational and ecstatic. Mike Servito and Shaun J. Wright close the Garden with a set rooted in their Detroit and Chicago histories, a shared lineage of dancefloor history, balancing joy, soul, and drive in a way that feels timeless, immediate and irresistible.
Return to the Source concludes with a night that reflects the core values of both collectives: curiosity, collaboration, and a belief in the dancefloor as a space for transformation. From the first sound to the final record, this is not an afterthought, but a destination.
