______
Return to the Source 2025 is an organic evolution of the original concept, with careful attention to detail put in at every level. Our weekend at the Tangent includes 4 parties for the price of one weekend wristband, with an outdoor area containing a harm reduction zone, food truck, and an incredible outdoor sound system. Once the music starts at No Way Back on Sunday night, it won't end until Tuesday morning — 32 hours of continuous music. A weekend wristband will allow you to experience this ever changing environment with no interruptions.
______
What began in 2007 as a party that extended beyond boundaries has found a home in the Tangent Gallery, blossoming into its own kind of festival. The entire weekend is something to experience, the context of each room evolves from day to day, the music and the space itself is constantly changing. There’s the Tresor 313 party on Saturday Night — a full 12 hours — with Cybotron live, Surgeon, Neel, Objekt, Clarisa Kimskii and ending with a sunrise set from Daniel Bell, and once No Way Back starts on Sunday, the music will continue for 32 solid hours — with Lot Mass directly following No Way Back outside on Monday at noon and The Bunker party on Monday night ending well after dawn on Tuesday. With all these events, the Tangent has become its own special destination for Memorial Day weekend. We all need a place to call our own, and for this weekend the venue of that vision is The Tangent. This is Return to the Source 2025.
We’re celebrating with a specially priced weekend pass for all Return to the Source events. This wristband allows you to experience the whole arc of the weekend and its ever changing context:
– Admission to Tresor 313, No Way Back, Lot Mass and The Bunker
– Priority re-entry to these 4 events
– Weekend wristband entry lane
This pass will allow you to experience the 32 hour party with no interruptions. The Benefactor weekend wristband is simply a donation tier, to support the continuation of events like these, and does not grant any more benefits than a regular weekend wristband.
The Tresor 313 party is a full 12 hours, so the Ballroom goes later with a closing set from Clarisa Kimskii and the Daniel Bell sunrise set in the Garden will go all the way until 10am. No Way Back starts at 10pm and lasts 14 hours, beginning the 32 hour continuous block of music, with opening sets from Mozhgan in the NWB Room and a complementary Iyengar Yoga Detroit class led by George Rahme starting at 10:30pm in the Outer Space room, props and mats provided, with music from Wanjira Makena and her singing bowls and ending with Scott Zacharias’ legendary dawn to noon set while Mike Servito closes the NWB Room. At noon on Monday the party continues outside for Lot Mass with Kiernan Laveaux x Johnny Zoloft, Willow, Detroit legend Gay Marvine and more. As that party ends I.T. presents The Bunker begins with a Dance Room exploring all the boundaries and fascinating combinations like GiGi FM x Derek Plaslaiko, a closing set from CCL x Objekt, and an opening set from Haruka x Craig Gonzalez. The Going In Room is an environment of healing experimental music from equally compelling combinations like Polygonia x Erika and Patrick Russell x Sarah Wreath, and also an outdoor stage called The Garden starting right after Lot Mass with Mike Servito x JADALAREIGN, Lakuti x Tama Sumo, and Nita Aviance x Kilopatrah Jones. This outdoor stage was so magical last year, organically stretching to 6am, so we’ve decided to continue those hours with even more exciting collaborative sets.
We can’t wait to share all this amazing music with you in such a carefully curated environment, with the music for the whole weekend curated by BMG. Amber Gillen & the Infinite Dimensions Crew mindfully transforms the space, evolving those installations each day of Return to the Source. The enveloping sonics emanate from the incredible hip hugging sound system of Jim Gibbons and his AVS crew, with the outside sound from the sonic visionaries at Bing Audio. Even the food is carefully curated for the events, with farm to table and vegan options available at the food truck every hour the venue is open.
Interdimensional Transmissions is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The inaugural release on IT was also Ectomorph’s debut, in February of 1995. IT’s first major event was Love from Beyond with Syst3m in 1998. To celebrate the somehow shocking fact that we’ve made it this long, we have a series of releases of new music, some special reissues, and special merchandise we are releasing all year long. There will of course be special things for Return to the Source available at our merch booth, which is open during all Return to the Source nighttime events (the booth closes at 6am during NWB and reopens for The Bunker).
See you on the other side of the wormhole.
